‘Blood and Moon’
Blood and Moon looks at the reproductive habits of all animals and their relationship with the moon cycle. Narrowing the study to two species- coral bodies/polyps (who only reproduce on the day of/few days surrounding the full moon) and human biological females (who’s menstrual cycles are heavily influenced by the patterns of the full moon), this performance piece takes form of a ritualistic dance to the moon. My red painted body representing biological females and menstrual blood, and the ceramic jewellery being constructed of coral-shaped beads.
This is a photo of me doing some things in collaboration with Tijana, who is a really groovy up and coming pop singer. (Also I am sick as you can see from the tissue box and sniffy facial expression)

Also t.s Eliot quotes bc I love his poems but also because I’m doing a gender artwork based on them and they’re stuck in my head.
There are a million and one things that biological females endure in their day to day life, and about a million of those things we are taught to feel ashamed about. Vaginas are either sexual objects, or they’re gross. Being naked is always a sexual object or it doesn’t happen at all. And periods- god don’t get me started on the amount of shame placed on an insanely natural bodily function which most females endure from the age of around 12. I have had too many males tell me ‘ew I can’t deal with talking about stuff like that don’t tell me’ with no trigger or genuine negative experience with periods like man I’ve been physically going through it since I was a kid you can shut up and listen. Anyway so as to not go on a lengthy essay about males being squeamish about periods let’s get to the point.
This body of work focuses on areas of woman that are sexualised and shamed to no ends, and looks at them with a refreshed and cleansed acknowledgement of their beauty without becoming objects or shameful or embarrassing or any of that. It is built off of the idea of honesty and genuinely in the female body and its functions, and finding comfort, beauty and acceptance in that.

The Baum Gallery of Fine Art is an educational art museum on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas in the west wing of McCastlain Hall. (Parking is available behind the College of Business and in front of the Schichtl Studio Arts building.) The museum aims to encourage the appreciation and understanding of art for learners of all ages, as well as to inspire the creative insight and growth of museum visitors. Ok that’s all well and good but can we just be clear I am not, nor have I ever had an opportunity to, be displayed in this gallery and quite literally me or my work has nothing to do with the text you added to my post..
Please don’t advertise on my blog I’m a 20 y/o artist trying to make ends meet and create awareness for myself and my art this is not a commercial forum of any kind this is my one place for just me. Don’t spoil that please
